COMMONWELTH GAME 2010
New Delhi is glowing with pride to organize the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2010. The mega sport event will be commenced on 3rd October 2010 and will pack up on 14thOctober 2010. For the purpose, remarkable infrastructural changes are taking place all across the city. The opening and closing ceremony will be arranged in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

GAME VILLAGE IN DELHI
The third developing country, India will host Commonwealth Games after Jamaica in 1966 and Malaysia in 1998. New venues are being set up and the among the list of preparations, Games Village draws the prime attention. It is to be constructed on the eastern bank of River Yammua, near the Akshardham temple at the road to Noida intersection. The Village covers about 63.5 hectares, with accommodation facility for about 8, 500 athletes and officials. Also, participants will find a new stadium along with the existing one on the very location.

EVENTS DURING COMMANWEALTH GAMES 2010
Commonwealth Games will highlight 17 games including Wrestling, Weightlifting, Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash, Shooting, Rugby 7s, Netball, Lawn Bowls, Hockey, Gymnastics, Cycling, Boxing, Badminton, Athletics, Archery and Aquatics. Participation on each sport is open for both men and women and accordingly, they are scheduled in different dates.

Declaration of public holiday for the occasion of closing ceremony on 14th October.

Issuing Travel card by the Travel Association of India (TAAI)

Developing local transport facilities by adding more 5000 cabs, all around the city.

15 new Bus depots and more number of DTC buses will be added. Sources confirmed that about as many as 300 AC Feeder Buses will be introduced by Delhi Metro.

Strong security at Games Village and the venues related to the games.

Special monitoring equipments like CCTV, Electronic Surveillance, license plate detector for vehicles, X-ray baggage scanner etc are to be arranged on important locations.

The organizing committee is expecting to welcome about one lakh tourist from different parts of the world. The international event will boom tourism in India. Special schemes for foreign tourist are also planned by my organizations. A number of luxury staying options and places of recreations are designed in the city and as well in Delhi NCRs. Besides, visitors can enjoy staying at all-existing elite hotels like Le Meridien, Oberoi Maidens, Taj Mahal, Taj Palace, Hyatt Regency, Inter Continental and Maurya Sheraton.
